DWP TEXT MESSAGE SCAM ALERT |

Dear Resident, We have been made aware of the increase in a DWP text message scam. The text messages relates to unclaimed payments and invites the text recipients to click on a link. These text messages have already been reported to DWP security for awareness. The Police and DWP are reminding customers to remain vigilant.
The DWP will only send links which point to the GOV.UK website.
If you receive the text please follow these steps: 1. DO NOT click the links within these messages. 2. BLOCK the number from your mobile phone 3. Refer text messages to: Action Fraud, the UK's national fraud reporting centre.
To report a suspicious text message, particularly if it purports to be from the DWP or any other government agency, forward it to 7726. This short code is free to use and will report the message to your mobile phone provider. They can then investigate the origin of the text and take action if it's malicious. Additionally, you can report suspicious emails to report@phishing.gov.uk. If you believe a scam has resulted in financial loss or you've provided financial information, contact your bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud.
